Ellie Boosts Cascade’s Numbers
A 19-year-old Washington student is the latest to benefit from the opportunities extended by Cascade Cash Management to young people in the region who are keen to get a head start in their financial career.
Elizabeth Langdon (Ellie) is working towards a BA Hons Business with Economics at Northumbria University, and she has joined Cascade as a Client Support Assistant.
Completing her second year, Ellie was so keen to join the company she has joined the team on a part time basis, prior to joining full time in September to undertake the role as her sandwich year, before returning to do her fourth and final year at university.
In the role Ellie will be learning the basics of the leading cash management company that is on a mission to help people reach their savings goals faster, smarter and happier on all levels. Ellie will be supporting the entire team to get vast experience by supporting clients on their savings journey and ensuring the Cascade dataset of 5500+ bank accounts is updated and accurate. Ellie said:
“This opportunity was just too good to be true. I’d heard about Cascade and their work with students, but then when I met the team at a CISI event last Autumn, I was determined to have my sandwich year with them.
“The team is simply lovely, the environment conducive to learning and the atmosphere is very positive. The team are well organised, which I love, and the support from my line manager, Head of Business Operations Georgia Boddy, has been brilliant. I feel at home here already and I’m looking forward to the future as part of this team, carving a role for myself whilst I learn.”
Ellie is the fifth student that Cascade Cash Management has offered this opportunity to from the university, with the latest, Louis Gleeson, about to return to his studies to complete his fourth year. Louis has enjoyed his time so much and become such a valued part of the team that he will be staying on indefinitely as a part time Cascader, rejoining the company full time upon the successful completion of his degree. Louis said:
“This experience has been so rewarding. I have learnt so much and am now ready to complete my last year of studies. I was sad at the prospect of leaving the team and the role I have here, so I was delighted and jumped at the chance when I was offered the opportunity to stay on part time while I complete my degree. I will now have the best of both worlds!”
Ellie, who loves travelling in the UK and abroad, says she will relish this opportunity as she is always hungry to improve herself looking for new knowledge, courses and challenges. She has always loved finance and maths and is currently doing the certified Bloomberg course alongside her degree, learning about different elements of financial marketing. Georgia Boddy said:
“I was blown away by Ellie’s enthusiasm to join the team following our first meeting. She is an outgoing and professional academic with an extremely bright future ahead of her. Ellie has a natural interest in financial services and so we look forward to giving her practical experience in the sector. She has impressed the team and fits in really well.
“At Cascade we are keen to support the future of young people, so we are delighted to be able to create these kind of opportunities. Celebrating our 10th anniversary, it really was the perfect time to retain Louis, who is one of our stars, and welcome Ellie at the same time.”
Ellie concluded by saying that she hopes to gain experience within the sector to help her understand what specific area she excels in for her long-term future:
“As well as the day-to-day role, there is the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and network. It makes enjoyable occasions such as the CISI events even more relevant and it is an opportunity I feel truly lucky to be embracing.”
